ONE YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE IN THEATRE
The period of Diploma that gives theatre education is one year. This course is recognized by to the Hampi kannada university. The text, classes and examinations of this course run according to the guidelines of Hampi kannada university. University gives certificate to students who successfully pass the examination.
TWO YEARS SERVICE WITH EXPERT ARTISTES

After finishing one year course successfully, the students are required to serve as junior artistes in repertory for another two years and have to participate totally in production, performance of shows with expert senior artistes. Serving as repertory artistes is a wish. After finishing their first year training students are required to give in writing a contract agreement.

Theatre is a medium which is very near to people. Theatre expands the values such as human love, personality development. It gives an eternal jubilation in a cultural context. It develops communication sensibilities. The study of theatre makes to attain an excellence in Theatre.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

Education is imparted in Kannada language. English is used wherever it is necessary. It is inevitable for students have to be able to speak Kannada.

ELGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

According to the rules and regulations of Karnataka open University candidate must possess the minimum eligibility criteria is he should have certification of P.U.C (Passed in 10+2). Age limit is 18 years to 28 years. It is a must to know reading and writing of Kannada language.

PROCEDURE TO PROCURE AND SUBMIT APPLICATION FORM

Interested candidates may obtain application form Rangayana office by paying Rs. 50/- (Fifty rupees) from Rangayan office.

Candidates who want to obtain application form through post should send a Bank Demand draft of Rs. 50/- (Fifty rupees) which is drawn in the favor of Director, Rangayana, Kalamandira, Vinoba Road, Mysore – 5700 05. Or else they can obtain application form by sending the money order within the specified date.

Candidates who have downloaded application form from the website of Rangayana www.rangayana.org should send a Bank Demand draft of Rs. 50/- (Fifty rupees) drawn in favor of Director, Rangayana, Kalamandira, Vinoba Road, Mysore – 5700 05 along with the filled application form. Those who want to remit through money order should send the Xerox copy receipt of money order sent.

The duly filled application form should be sent to Rangyana office through registered post or courier or may be submitted personally to office in working hours.

Incomplete application form and applications without proper documents are rejected. Xerox application forms are not accepted.

The Xerox copies of the following certificates attested by gazetted officer should be submitted along with the application form.

1. Certificate of Education & Qualification
2. Caste Certificate
3. Age Certificate
4. Stamp size photo copies – 4, Passport size photo copy – 1

A self addressed cover, with a Rs. 5/- rupees stamp gummed on it should be sent along with the application form.
Rangayana is not responsible for the delay caused by postal organizations.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

After scrutinizing the application forms submitted by the candidates they are called for interview. Candidates are selected through the process of open interview. Candidates’ caliber and interest in theatre are prime considerations. Roaster system is followed in accordance with rules and regulations of government. Candidates should attend the interviews in their own expenses. Interview is conducted in Rangayana campus. Theater experience and knowledge of theatre are preferred. FECILITIES FOR CANDIDATES

Successful, selected candidates are given free accommodation for the period of course i.e. one year.

A monthly scholarship of Rs.2, 500/- (Two thousand five hundred rupees only) is provided.

Candidates are required to make their own arrangements for food.

A monthly honorarium is given to the selected students after the training of one year for another two years i.e. the period as junior artistes in repertory.

FECILITY OF ACADEMIC PROPERTIES

There is a well equipped library in Rangyana. Thousands of books, introductory audio video presentations about Theatre and folk arts are available in Rangayana.

SUBJECTS OF STUDIES

Candidates are required to study three theory and two practical subjects during one year period of the course. A total of five subjects are there.

Classical Indian Theatre (Theory)
Eastern & Western Theatre (Theory)
Acting – Realistic acting and Stylized acting
Back Stage – Theatre techniques and Design (Practical)
Experiment – Show – Rasagrahana (Practical)

From the above Paper 1 & 2 are theories, Paper 3 is theory and practical and Paper 4 & 5 are practical.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

Internal assessment is done by the teachers who conduct classes. This is done in subjects through group activities, acting, discipline, writing assignments about topics etc. Examinations are conducted according to the rules and regulations of Karnataka Open University and Certificates are issued at the end of the academic year.

Selected Candidates are required to remit Examination fee of Karnataka Open University Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred).

TRAINING FESS

No fee is collected from candidates during the period of course. If the Candidate discontinues course or damage the equipments of Rangayana, the loss is deducted from the scholarship of the candidate.

DISCIPLINE AND RULES

Candidates should follow the discipline and rules formulated by Rangayana compulsorily. Director will take necessary action for the indiscipline.

SCHOOL TIME TABLE

During the period of Candidate has to reside in the accommodation provided by class will run morning 6.00 am to 8.00 pm.

RESULTS

After one month of examinations or the next day of the results announced by University in media the results will be announced in the website of Rangayana www.rangayana.org. Candidates are intimated about their results through post.

UNSUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

Students who are failed in the examination may take reexamination according to the rules and regulations of University.
